Kontos Psychotherapy mission is to provide therapeutic services in a comfortable, relaxed environment, where concerns and symptoms are identified, a plan is developed and work is begun to alleviate sympoms/emotional pain, and to achieve personal goals with a team approach.

Clients treated are 21 years of age and older.  Treatment Modalities offered are varied with each offering a different benefit in finding a solution.

 

Free Consultation:  A free 15-minute telephone consultation is available for questions to be asked, assess if treatment needs can be met, and to ensure that a client feels comfortable with their therapist, which is imperative for treatment success before an appointment is scheduled. This is not a counseling/therapy session.

Payment Methods:  Payment for services are due at time session paid at the beginning of appointment.  This office does not bill for services rendered.  Payments can be made by cash,  or check, payable to Kontos Psychotherapy. Advanced payments for a block of sessions can be arranged.  A fee will be charged for all returned checks.

Fees & Sliding Scale:   Sliding scale fee is available for clients who have a demonstrated financial need. Please discuss your financial needs with your therapist. 

 

Insurance Plans: Please contact Kontos Psychotherapy directly for insurance plans accepted. If your plan is not accepted, Kontos Psychotherapy is also an 'Out of Network' Provider. To determine if you have 'Out of Network' coverage, check with your insurance provider and ask the following questions: (1) what is my deductible and has it been met? (2) How many sessions  per calendar year does my plan cover? (3) What is  percentage of reimbursement? (4) Is approval required from my PCP (primary care physician)?

Payment of service is expected at time of session.  Completed claim forms will be provided directly to you for submission to your insurance carrier for reimbursement directly to you. Contact your insurance carrier directly for information regarding rules, and regulations regarding reimbursement.

For claim form to be submitted, a mental health diagnosis must be given. Not all diagnosis guarantee reimbursement.  For this reason may clients elect to pay in cash to ensure their full confidentiality. For more information regarding this, please ask.

 

Cancellations: If unable to keep your scheduled appointment,     24 hour notice is required so needs of all clients of Kontos Psychotherapy can be met. If 24 hour notice is not given, full fee of missed session will be charged as per signed treatment agreement.  Insurance companies cannot be billed.

The office has voicemail and a message can be left.  Please do not use email and/or text messaging for cancellation of appointments.

In some instances, subject to discression, a phone session may be held.  Phone sessions are not billed to your insurance carrier and are paid out of pocket.

 

Confidentiality and Privacy Policy: The law protects the relationship between a client and therapist and information cannot be disclosed without a signed Authorization of Release form.  As a NYS mandated reporter There are a few exceptions to this law:

- suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse 

-a serious threat of bodiliy harm to another person/s

-an intent to harm oneself.

In these instances, information will be disclosed without written permission to the appropriate authorities immediately to ensure safety for all parties involved.
